I am trying to install ChemDraw Std 3.5 (which also happens to be the free version of ChemDraw on the SigmaPlot 5.0 cd-rom). I receive one of the following error messages:
error: 'ONWINDOWSNT not found in specified library"
or less frequently: "insufficient environment space".
For SigmaPlot 5.0 users:
Try copying the entire ChemDraw folder from the top level of the cd-rom to your hard drive. Once you have done this, reboot your computer into Safe Mode and then run the installer that is now your hard drive by opening the ChemDraw folder on your hard drive, opening the disk 1 folder, and double clicking on the setup application (icon looks like a little blue computer). To boot into Safe Mode, at the "Starting Windows 98..." screen press the F8 key. A menu will appear. Try Safe Mode option 3 or 4. If the problem still occurs, it could be that the cd-rom is damaged.
For all ChemDraw Std 3.5 users:
You can download replacement disks from our ftp site using your web browser at:
Download disk1.exe to an empty folder on your hard drive. Double click on disk1.exe to unzip the installer files. Place the unzipped files on a new floppy disk and use as your replacement disk 1. Do the same procedure for disk 2. After completeing the procedure, you should have two new floppy disks. Run the setup.exe file on disk 1. Use your original ChemDraw serial number and registration code during the installation.
