Problem:
How to set up access for non-admin users to see User1's collections in E-Notebook 13.x?
Solution:
An E-Notebook 13.x administrator can grant access to others. Here are
some examples:
- A. If you want specific User2 to access specific notebook (e.g. “Notebook-X”) of User1, please right-click on "Notebook-X" -> Collection Properties -> Security -> Grant… -> select the row with User = "User2" -> OK -> specify access type (e.g. Read) -> Grant -> OK.
- B. If you want specific User2 to access all collections of User1, right-click on "User1" -> Collection Properties -> Security -> Grant… -> select the row with User = "User2" -> OK -> specify access type (e.g. Read) -> Grant -> OK.
- C. If you want all users from UserGroup3 (where User2 belongs) to access all collections of User1, right-click on "User1" -> Collection Properties -> Security -> Grant… -> select the row with User Group = "UserGroup3", User = "All" -> OK -> specify access type (e.g. Read) -> Grant -> OK.
To see if a child collection inherits security from a parent collection (e.g. "Notebook-X" from "User1", or "User2" from "UserGroup3"), just right-click on a child collection -> Collection Properties -> General -> "Inherits Security" box can be set on/off.
Please refresh E-Notebook (Data -> Refresh All) for security changes to take effect.
You can find more information about security in our E-Notebook Administrator Guide, usually available at C:\Program Files (x86)\CambridgeSoft\E-Notebook 13.x\Admin\.
