ChemBioOffice 2010 and E-Notebook Enterprise compatibility
NOTE:
When performing a custom installation of Desktop/Workgroup software (like ChemOffice 2010), you should de-select E-Notebook (Inventory, BioAssay) if you are using Enterpise version of the software. However, this does not prevent the specific issue described below.
The solution (A or B) should be used on every E-Notebook Enterprise client machine where ChemOffice 2010 is installed.
PROBLEM:
Both E-Notebook 9.0.3 and 11.0.3 are using ChemDraw ActiveX Enterprise Const 11 plugin. The plugin becomes unregistered after ChemBioOffice 2010 is installed. That causes inability to display and edit ChemDraw field within E-Notebook.
SOLUTION A:
Re-registering ChemDrawCtlConst11.dll can solve this issue.
To re-register (by default the path is: C:\Program Files\CambridgeSoft\ChemOffice2008\ChemDraw\ChemDrawCtlConst11.dll):
1. Close E-Notebook application.
2. As Windows administrator on that machine, navigate to Start -> Run.
3. Type in:
regsvr32 “C:\Program Files\CambridgeSoft\ChemOffice2008\ChemDraw\ChemDrawCtlConst11.dll”
4. Click OK or press Enter.
5. Make sure you have received a confirmation:
---------------------------
RegSvr32
---------------------------
DllRegisterServer in C:\Program Files\CambridgeSoft\ChemOffice2008\ChemDraw\ChemDrawCtlConst11.dll succeeded.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
SOLUTION B (recommended):
It is better to run a repair on the ChemDraw ActiveX Const 11 installer as re-registering the only dll in Solution A may not be enough.
1. Close E-Notebook application.
2. As Windows administrator on that machine, navigate to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> ChemDraw ActiveX Enterprise Const 11 -> Change -> Next -> Repair -> Next -> Install -> Finish.
