Product: TIBCO Spotfire®
When Lead Discovery Premium 1.2.x is deployed to Spotfire Server and Analyst client is updated, the client displays an error box at startup with message:
eowp.exe - Application Error - The instruction at 0x000000001001C727 referenced memory at 0x0000000000000004. The memory could not be read.
There could be additional errors displayed, for example:
A runtime exception has occurred. You can handle EO.Base.Runtime.Exception event to silent this message. If the problem continues, please contact your software vendor with the information below. Exception: System.Exception: Channel disconnected.
Most Lead Discovery Premium functionality is also not available.
Spotfire Analyst: All versions
PerkinElmer Lead Discovery Premium: 1.2.x
This problem is usually caused by endpoint protection or anti-virus software running on the system (TrendMicro, Cylance, Avecto, BeyondTrust, etc.). PerkinElmer Lead Discovery Premium uses a 3rd party component, EO Browser (eowp.exe), from Essential Objects, Inc. This component is dynamically created and loaded as a child processes within Analyst client. It is used to run a browser engine for multiple features within Lead Discovery Premium. Third party anti-virus / security software can often raise false alarm and cause eowp.exe to fail.
The eowp.exe is installed in Analyst client installation directory, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\TIBCO\Spotfire\10.x\Modules\Lead Discovery Chemcharts Forms_188.8.131.52\eowp.exe
D:\Users\[user-name]\AppData\Local\TIBCO\Spotfire\10.x\Modules\Lead Discovery Chemcharts Forms_184.108.40.206\eowp.exe
This problem is usually resolved by making sure that eowp.exe and DLL files in its directory are whitelisted by all endpoint protection and anti-virus software that is running on the machine.
