Not able to save data source in Information Designer. Error, "Connections to MySQL Community Server are not supported".
While trying to create a data source element in Information Designer, to connect to a Oracle MySQL Community Server database distribution, you are unable to save the data source element after entering the connection string details as well as the username and password. An error dialog is presented with the message: "Connections to MySQL Community Server are not supported".
When trying to save your data source element in Information Designer, you get an error dialog stating the following when expanding the details:
Cannot connect to data source 'Database Name', due to invalid configuration or that the data source is not running. Database reported: [tibcosoftwareinc][MySQL JDBC Driver]Connections to MySQL Community Server are not supported. Please contact MySQL to obtain a MySQL Enterprise or Commercial version.
The bundled DataDirect driver for Oracle MySQL does not support Oracle MySQL Community Server, and can therefore not be used when trying to connect to a Community Server version of Oracle MySQL. To connect to Oracle MySQL Community Server, you should be using the vendor's native MySQL driver instead of the DataDirect driver as well as the corresponding data source template. You may have to download driver and update the JDBC template to enable the MySQL native driver, if you have not already done so.
