When Microsoft Office 2000 is installed, changes are made to the ADSI security model. The ChemOffice WebServer 2000 installer relies on the methods exposed by ADSI to set file and directory permissions, and these become invalid once FrontPage 2000 extensions are installed.
Once Microsoft Office 2000 is installed, uninstalling does not remedy the changes that FrontPage 2000 makes to the ADSI security model.
To fix the problem, you must manually change the directory permissions so that the WebServer can read and write to the appropriate files and directories.
Unless otherwise noted, all changes are made to files in
{Drive}:\inetpub\wwwroot\chemoffice
(1) Change the security on CFWTemp to:
Everyone - Full Control
(2) Change the security on WebServer_Source
Everyone - Read { (RX) (RX) }
Replace permissions on subdirectories.
(3) Find the location of the database which is served.
Change security to Everyone: Full Control
It is possible that by using the user IUSR_{MACHINENAME} instead of "Everyone", the WebServer will function correctly, but this has not been verified.
