When trying to add data to my database, I get an error messsage similar to:
Window error....database operation failed.
Changes requested were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship.
Change the data in the field that contains the duplicate data, remove index, or redefine index to permit duplicate entries.
The message is accurate. It means that you have a unique field (like the Mol ID field) that has two of the same values in it. For example, when you create a new molecule database using ChemFinder, it automatically creates a structure, mol weight, formula and Mol ID field. The Mol ID field is defined as unique. The others are not unique. This field should never have more than one of the same value in it. If somehow you were able to get two of the same value in a unique field, you would get the error message above.
MS Access allows you to define unique fields. If you used MS Access to create the database, you may have accidentally, put two of the same values in a unique field. Please check this. ChemFinder should not allow you to enter the same value in a unique field, so if you created the database in ChemFinder, we would need all of the database files, and the steps you took to create the database.
Recreate the database if all else fails. Keep in mind that you can use the same form, it's just that you want to associate the form with a new database.
