Same here. Macbook Pro, 13'', OS 10.10.5. Very annoying, makes the application completely unusable if you're unable to save the document.

Have you tried to save in "ChemDraw Cloud"? It works for me, while I still cannot save files on my hard disk..

We found two different issues on some users machine.

The program freezes the moment to try to save a file (new files) and changing the default location where the file is saved which resolved that issue – say saving the files in the Desktop instead of Documents folder.

In some cases the uses are able to save the file, but once they try to edit and save an existing file the program crashes. This happens regardless of the location where the file is saved. The only workaround currently we have is to request the users to use our previous version.

We have found this issue in some user machine and the workaround for this issue is to reset the launch services database.

To reset the launch services database, open Terminal by going to Applications - Utilities - Terminal in your mac machine and paste the command below:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user ; killall Dock

This may take a while if you have lots of apps (20-30 minutes or more).

I also have been having the same issue and it's been extremely frustrating. After some testing it seems like only certain objects will give an issue (though there doesn't seem to be any trend in the type or combination of object)

In other words, if I copy paste single objects one by one it works (half the time)

It would be greast if Perkin Elmers could fix this problem. Thesis writing sucks when half the time is spent dealing with force quitting Chemdraw.

    Macbook Pro (2017)

    Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6

Chemdraw Professional 17.0 (only one offered by the institute)
