Problems importing, error message ends with ' Invalid numeric: ,6242824074' or something similar

We encountered this problem importing an MDB dataset. The dataset would import on one client workstation but not on another. Found that the region and language settings were different on the non working workstation. If you encounter the same error:

- Go to the start menu and search for 'Region and Language'

- In the 'Formats' tab click 'Advanced setting...'

- Check decimal and grouping symbols they are typically '.' and ',' respectivey if you find they are switched change them to overcome this import problem. Alternately if there are any problems changing the settings switch the country 'Format' to 'English (UK)'
